Miracles

Dear everyone who I love so much,

Remember how last week I told you all that I would have miracles to share! Well get ready for it because here they come :) first off I loooove teaching about el Libro de Mormon! We have seen so many changes since we have started to teach it different. Inspiration from god! Our investigators can't put it down! We went over to the Juarez family on Monday to found out that Juana read more than just chapter 1 she read the first 7 chapters!!! You have to understand that this is a first for me. Before we were ecstatic if our investigators read even a couple verses and now they are actually reading chapters! It’s the best. We were also able to attend the Gilbert temple open house on Friday with one of our investigators, and it was BEAUTIFUL! The spirit was really strong and he really enjoyed it. He loved that when we went through the different rooms in the temple we kept making our way up to eventually lead to the celestial room (which is probably one of my favorite celestial rooms it's Gorgeous) he said it just made since it's like making the steps to get to live with god! We had a lesson with him that night and taught the plan of salvation and the temple made it so much easier for him to put everything into perspective. and he wants to be baptized :) he also told us that he is the oldest in his family so he doesn’t want to be like Laban, he wants to be like Nephi it was pretty funny how he said it. He’s in chapter 17! What a champ right!? We had another lesson this week with our miracle family the Juarez! Love them soo much! They accepted to be baptized the 21st of February! We are super excited like I can even tell you! ahhh! Miracles miracles miracles! We had our Fireside last night! And it was a success! It turned out really nice and everyone that went really enjoyed it. We sang at the end and did the efy melody in Spanish it was cool. It’s just been a great week! And to top it off with a little of the crazy side, the war between the elders is still on. The other night they pretty much put an entire orange tree on our car. we have no idea where they got that many oranges. But this morning we knocked on their door and had some arrows leading to their balcony. We hid and when they climbed into the balcony to see what we left them, we came out and threw cream pies at them while they were cornered. We ran away up the stairs to the next floor and waited till they came back around and the AIR ATTACK! We dropped all the oranges they had given us. So basically we are wining. Sister power! What a great week, I love being a missionary it’s the best work hard, play hard, be a part of miracles, nothing better than this! Well love you all tons and i will talk to ya soon! Have a great week!  The church is true, the book is blue and Moroni is still on the ball!

Que pasa!?

Que pasa!?

What’s up everyone!? I hope you all had a fantastic week! I don't have too much to report back on this week porque la Hermana Acota esta un poqito enferma este semana :( my companion has been sick so we haven't been able to go out that much this week. but good news she is starting to feel better so that makes me super happy :) so I had a lot of time in the apartment this week to read my book of Mormon and it was great. I can’t even express how much I love that book, like seriously it is the best! I learn something new EVERY single time I open it! It’s amazing!!! What a treasure! We have actually been focusing a lot on the book of Mormon with our investigators because we have introduced a new way of teaching about it. And the change is almost a 360! Almost every one of our investigators is reading now!!! I love being a missionary, this is the life!

I forgot to tell you something kind of funny last week. So Hermana homer (who lives in the same apartment as us) ran over a dog last week... it was an accident there are little dogs running around all over the place here. But anyway the zone leaders have been relentlessly teasing her about it for the past week. They have left dog food on the porch and little notes on their car, and on and on. It’s been pretty funny. But they started to feel a little bad so they made us breakfast the other day and left it on our porch, probably the best breakfast I have had so far on my mission. They made a lot of food.

At church I have been playing the piano for the relief society and I’m not good at all, but it helps to at least have a little of something to sing to ha-ha. I really really wish I could read notes... but oh well! I’ve been listening to the CD that sister carter made and mom you should ask her if she could give me piano lessons when I get back. She plays sooo beautifully! We have our fireside this Sunday. Hopefully it turns out good I’ve never organized a fireside before, but it’s all coming together pretty well and we are pretty excited about it.

well sorry this letter was a little short this week, but next week I will have miracles to tell you so be excited! :) Miracles in phoenix. Game time!

What a great new year!

HoLa!
This week was a little slower yet again, but things are going to start picking up and I’m excited about that. On Monday we had a district BBQ it was super fun. We are still teaching José and his family and they are one of the cutest families i have met on my mission. Whenever we go over they open the door and the kids erupt into to cheers and run out to smother us in their hugs :) they are seriously soooooo cute! Jose is ready to be baptized but his wife is a little hesitant because she is Catholic so we are working with her, but she is really starting to open up and I’m super excited for them the gospel is going to bless them so much! We had Zone conference this week and it was amazing! President Toone gave a promise that each companionship in our mission, as long as they are being obedient and striving to reach the standard of Excellency, would be able to find a family and feel the joy of bringing them into the gospel. He said he received revelation on that as has been praying for it. I wish everyone could have been there for the power if that promise it was AMAZING! the coolest thing about it is that all this week and last week families have been showing up out of nowhere to everyone in our zone and we have been getting super excited. Then president Toone came and gave his promise and we were all blown away because the miracles have already begun. Miracles in phoenix!  What gets me even more excited is just thinking about the two temples that are going to be opening this month and in a couple months. One of the reasons we are getting two new temples? Because in a year there are going to be so many families going to the temple to be sealed :) it just gives my chills just thinking about it. Like seriously, I can’t even describe the excitement of the Arizona Tempe mission right now. Believe in miracles! What a great new year! I’m looking forward to 2014

We also met together with the Arizona Tuscan and Phoenix missions on Saturday. Elder Jeffery R. Holland was supposed to come and speak to us, but the day before he got called onto another assignment by the first presidency. We were a little sad because we have been supper excited about this for weeks, but the speaker was amazing. And it’s all about the message not the messenger. Elder Wright of the 70 came and spoke. His wife spoke as well and she was super funny. She told us it was like having tickets to go to the Beatles and then finding out it’s the Dixie chicks. Elder wright said he has never been compared to the Dixie Chicks before. Ha-ha it was a great meeting and I learned a lot and it was fun to see all the missionaries again! Had to say good bye to Hermana Maier, it’s so crazy that she is leaving. I’m next! Yikes! But I seriously love being a missionary so much! I love being a trainer and being able to serve with Hermana Acosta she’s amazing! There is nowhere better to be then in Cielito! (Little heaven) I love this ward so much! And our whole district is staying together! We got transfer calls last night, and no one is leaving so we are super excited! Well love ya all tons! And I will talk to ya soon!

                     Love,
                        Hermana Savage :)

PS. sorry I haven’t written back in a while, especially sorry for the late birthday cards! I haven't had time to go get stamps the past couple weeks but i hope you had a great day!  :)

Feliz ano nuevo!

Happy, Happy New Years! 2013 sure did fly by. Bring it on 2014! We didn’t do anything too crazy for new year’s we had the ward fiesta but it started at 7 so of course the only three cars in the parking lot at 7:15 were the missionary’s ha-ha. But we celebrated Mexican style with our jaritios (love that stuff) then set our alarm for 12am so we could wake up to hear the gun shots start the year off with a bang! Literally. This week was a little rough because with the holidays everyone is super busy. So it’s hard to find people to teach and members to come out with us. But things will pick up next week! We got a super solid new investigator this week though! Her name is Maria and Sister Romano and I talked to her outside onetime about a month ago. For some reason I woke up on Wednesday and just felt prompted that we had to go and see her. So we got a member to come out with us and had a super awesome lesson planned, but she was busy and couldn’t meet with us, but she said we could come back tomorrow. So we showed up the next day and had a super amazing lesson with her! She said that she feels like Jose smith that she is confused and looking for the truth but can’t find it. It was super cool how she could relate to Jose smith. She said she has been waiting for something for someone from god. We told her that we were messengers from god, and representatives of Jesus Christ. The spirit was so strong and she wants to be baptized!  It was amazing! So ALWAYS follow through with you spiritual promptings! Even if it doesn't work out the first time you knock on the door miracles are waiting! :)

Hermana Acosta is amazing! I love being her trainer she is all full of energy, and we have a lot of fun! This week we started a little war with the elders and we won. First we sent them ALMA 35:11. Then they responded with Alma 35:11. We then sent 1 Nephi 12:21 and they sent back 3 Nephi 3:7-8 you should all look up those scriptures they are super funny. And then we attacked there car with the "Lemonites" that the other Hermanas helped us make. It was super fun :) it’s just been a fun week can’t wait for this week! Love you all talk to ya soon!

These are the Lemonites. we won :)
