Lengua, chicharron and tripas

Dear most amazing people ever,

How’s is going?! Well this week we did ALOT of biking. Like pretty much all day every day. But it’s a blast! And Hermana Manwill is a crazy biker, like I never know when she is going to fly out of nowhere and almost hit me. Ha-ha it’s the best! We had a super good noche de hoger this Monday with one of our investigators, we had it at her friend’s home who is a member and some other sisters came over with their kids too, it was a blast. We taught the lesson and then we played charades and had treats. She really liked the aspect of having a night focused on the family and they enjoyed getting to know more members.

We went on another exchange this week with Hermana Taylor and Hermana homer. It was super fun! Hermana came with me for the day in my area and we had some really awesome lessons. we also conquered dinner together... to be honest I’m still not 100%  sure what we ate but it had a mix of lengua (cow tongue) chicken, pork, chicharron (pig skin/fat) tripas (I don’t really want to tell you what that is...) and well yeah it was a little hard to stomach, but we got it down and did better than elder Allen who had to sneak some of his off on to elder Murpheys plate, and elder Zoolakis who somehow got away with not getting seconds... sister power! PS. never want to eat that again. Ever! But anyway it was a super good exchange and I was able to help her out with a lot of things. Now I know why I went through some of the trials and hard times on my mission, because now I am able to really understand, and be able to help our others. I am so thankful for trails!!!!!

This week was a little ruff for our area; we are struggling to find people to go by especially during the mornings and afternoons. It seems we go door to door and no one opens up, but we are trying not to lose our enthusiasm as we bike around from place to place. Eventually someone will open up, trial of our patience or faith I suppose... I have seriously never been so tired in my life! We get home plan and either we are both so out of it that we can’t stop laughing or we wake up on the floor after an hour like we did the other night ha-ha. I seriously love sister Manwill sooooo much though! I know that president Toone really received revelation when he put us together. This transfer has gone by so fast and I think that is because we get along so well. I hope we stay together for a while. There is definitely a reason we are together. Well love ya all to pieces! Hope you have a great week talk to ya pronto!

       Con mucho amor,
               Hermana Savage

PS. oh yeah so the other night I guess I was singing in my sleep, and then Hermana homer said she heard me talking in Spanish! Yes! That must mean I dream a little bit in Spanish now! But yeah I guess I talk in my sleep like every night. Sometimes it’s a little embarrassing but also super funny, because then we try to make up what it was I dreamed about, because half the time I can never remember. Sweet dreams!

we got to drive on Sunday. yaaaay!

suuuuuper tired after a long day on bikes

This week during Spanish study we came up with a song about gallinas and preformed it for the other hermanas, unfortunately I cant send  you the video, but here are some screen shots.

we found a cat!
She took it for a ride on her bike :)

Meetings, Meetings, Meetings

Hola,
This week was full of lots and lots and lots of meetings! We had district meeting and me and sister Manwill had to split up for a little bit so that we could go into each of the districts and do a short training on one of the fundamentals, we decided we like it better when we can train together, but it went OK and we get to do another one tomorrow! It’s actually not as bad as I thought it’s kind of fun to have part in the trainings each week. We also went back up to Tempe for the sister training leader meeting. It was really nice and really helped us to understand our role and purpose as leaders. We then had Zone conference on Thursday and it was Amazing! We received a lot of revelation for our investigators, we focus a lot on the Atonement and how the driving force behind it is love. We talked about consecration and I am ready to give it my all! We preformed our song magical march as a zone for president Toone it was great ha-ha. We also went on our very first exchange with the sisters! I stayed in our area and we had sister Forson one of the English sisters come with me. It was a really fun exchange, and my favorite part was how much heavenly father helped me out with my Spanish. I was able to carry all four of the lessons that we had by myself. I was pretty nervous about having an English missionary with met at first but it turned out great! Tender mercies! :) I did ask sister Forson if she would share her testimony on faith in one of the lessons and I translated for her. It was actually suuuuper fun to translate! Then on Sunday we had yet another meeting with our stake president, President Porter and it went really well. He’s awesome! Wow so many meetings.... I feel like my mission is completely different now. I have NEVER been so tired in my life! But it’s great and I’m learning sooooo much! Still love the ward, the area, the missionaries and everything phoenix has to offer. Miracles are on the way! I can feel it! Sorry this letter was like suuuper boring but nothing too exciting happened this week... but next week it will be more exciting! Have a great week! Love ya all! Adios!
Love,
Hermana Savage

Magical March

This week was pretty awesome! We picked up some really great investigators this week! Two of which came from members. We were able to have a family home evening with one of them on Monday, and it went soooo well! We are super excited about teaching her. I know that as we utilize members in not only the teaching and baptizing process, but in the finding as well we will be able to find those who are more prepared and will stay strong in the church! The members are amazing! And you play such a HUGE role in the work of salvation!

Hermana Manwill and I did our first training ever at zone meeting on Tuesday. It actually turned out really good though. We sang a song with the zone leaders that they wrote called magical March, Elder Jacobsen played the guitar for us and it was great. I will have to get you the lyrics it was pretty funny. We talked a lot about conversion and consecration, and how the atonement and Book of Mormon help us to achieve that. I really have a fear of talking in front of large groups of people, so it was a little scary, but I survived! And I know The Lord is not content with our weaknesses. So I'm grateful that he is pushing me outside of my comfort zone so that I can rely more fully on him. We are going on our first exchanges this week, so hopefully all goes well! The sisters here are great I love them so much. It’s fun being a sister training leader and being able to help out more and be there to support the sisters.

Oh my goodness I forgot I need to tell you the biggest Spanish mistake I have made on my mission so far. It was pretty bad, like worse than when I randomly exclaimed my love for sheep in the middle if dinner, but it actually turned out to be pretty funny because everyone couldn't stop laughing and I had no idea what I said until like two minutes after once they calmed down when they could finally explain it to me. And so it was ok in the end even though I was like suuuuper embarrassed. So after our super amazing lesson that we had in our members home with our new investigator I was going to ask if it was OK if before we left if we said a prayer so what I was trying to say was "esta bien si despedimos..." but instead I said "esta bien si disperamos..." basically translation instead of saying "is it ok if we leave with..." I said "is it OK if we shoot ourselves..." yeah it was bad but they thought it was hilarious and my face was bright pink. Yep. It happens. Ha-ha

Also one of our investigators Edwardo (he’s 10) had an amazing experience this week! We told him that if he took the time to read in the book of Mormon that it would help him with his homework. He had a some tests this week and he took his book of Mormon to school and read in it before he took the test. He said it helped calmed him down and helped him to feel really good inside and guess what?!! He got 100% on both of his tests! Bam! Power of the book of Mormon is real! Try it! :) I seriously cannot even tell you how much I love that book! I know I say it all the time and you are probably all sick of it by now, but I promise you that as you read daily you will see a SIGNIFICANT difference in your life. Miracles are awaiting you! Love you all sooooo much! Talk to ya soon, have a totally fantastic week full of all sorts of cool stuff! Anyways talk to ya soon! Adios!

Phoenix Zone! (aka heart of the tempe mission)

MAGICAL MARCH
[Verse 1]
We've come a long way,
We've been here a long time,
But today is the day
That we make up our mind!

We've been called here to serve
From day until night,
To give all of our strength,
With our heart, mind and might.

[Bridge]
From the desert in Yuma,
To the town of Tempe,
To the valley of Phoenix,
Where we all want to be,

Were the Lord's chosen servants
And the field is prepared.
Down here in Phoenix
We are going to have

[Chorus]
A Magical March!
Magical March!
Find, Teach and baptize in a magical march!
Magical March!
Magical March!
It's all about the members in a magical march!
Were making March a Magical Month!

[Verse 2]
We invite, they commit,
then we follow up.
How to begin teaching,
Yeah that's what's up!

Revelation through church attendance
Revelation through prayer
Revelation through the Book of Mormon
And the spirit will be there!

Doctrine of Christ,
Role of the Holy Ghost
Teach people, not lessons,
And we'll baptize the most!

[Bridge]
From the desert in Yuma,
To the town of Tempe,
To the valley of Phoenix,
Where we all want to be.

Were the Lord's chosen servants
And the field is prepared.
Down here in Phoenix
We are going to have

[Chorus]
A Magical March!
Magical March!
Baptizing Phoenix in a magical march!
Magical March!
Magical March!
No one's falling off date in a Magical March!

[Closing]
Phoenix, So Good, They named a City after us!
Phoenix, So Good, They named a Mission after us!
Phoenix, So Good, They named a BIRD after us!

And were humble too!

New Companion

Hey everyone!
So this week was a very different week for me, lots of new adventures and things. We had transfers on Wednesday and I was pretty nervous! I was almost certain I was going to be with someone that I knew, but as the meeting went on they all got paired off into different companionships and I got more and more anxious by the second. Finally they announced Phoenix and my new companion is Hermana Manwill! Let me just tell you that transfers are inspired! I am so excited for this next transfer, Hermana Manwill is AMAZING! She's super funny and we get along great, like we were pretty much made for each other. She's from Missouri, and she's been out for 9 months. She's a new sister training leader as well so we are going to learn a lot together trying to figure this out. We are actually super excited about it though, because we are in the same boat so it makes the task a little less intimidating... and Hermana Acosta is off to South Phoenix so she is still pretty close, and I will get to see her every now and then. Yay!

So on Thursday we got to go back up to Tempe for MLC it was pretty much all day, but we both really enjoyed it. It's a little different being in the loop of everything that is happening in the mission. The scariest part was probably when we had to get up I front of everyone and discuss our stats as a zone and council together with all the other zone leaders and sister training leaders of what we are going to do to help our zones reach their full potential. I just don't like being up I front of people. We had a lot of good training and inspiration that came as we counseled together as a mission. My mind was a little scattered after the meeting I guess, because on our way home I did about the dumbest thing ever. I ran a red light, but not only that I came to a full and complete stop before I did. ¡Ay mi mente!

But me and Hermana Manwill seriously love being together the other night we got some elote (corn on a stick like in nacho libre) and we went to the park to eat it and little did we know that geese also like elote... I never in my life knew that geese hiss at you. It was probably one of the scariest things ever! But luckily this Mexican man came to our rescue and ran off the attack of the geese. He was super nice and we left him with a Mormon.org card :) we were also able to go to watch the Gilbert temple celebration Saturday night at one of our member’s. It was super funny because all 6 of us missionaries showed up and the member’s TV was in their bed room. It was super funny. You should have seen all of our faces when we first saw it. Awkward= priceless. It was the best. I love my district so much. We also got to go to one of the dedicatory sessions of the temple yesterday it was amazing! That temple is seriously sooooo beautiful! I can’t wait to go do a session there whether it is on my mission or after. President Toone wants all of the missionaries to be able to go through and do a session there. but the rules have changed though and we can only go to the temple once a quarter instead of once a transfer because the temple can’t take on all the missionaries at once... which means depending on transfers I might not be able to go to the temple very much before I go home. :( But oh well. But anyways it was a pretty great week, and Hermana Manwill is the Bomb! We have to do a training in Zone meeting tomorrow we are both nervous but super pumped at the same time. Can’t wait. Love ya all! See ya soon!

                     Love,
                        Hermana Savage

PS. I might have accidentally ripped one of my favorite skirts last night trying to catch a bunny with Hermana Manwill... we are going to have a lot of adventures this transfer ha-ha :)

We hit our 11month mark!!! MTC district Stayley, Funke, and Hansen :)

Our last district meeting before Hermana Acosta and Elder maybe left
