Alans baptism! :)

Hola!

This week was awesome! Alan got baptized on Thursday and of course it was super stressful at first but ended up turning out great! Alan showed up late and then bishop was no were to be seen and he was the one who was going to be baptizing him, but luckily we got a hold of him. He forgot ha-ha. But I just played some prelude music while we waited and it was nice because Alan came back and sat by me on the bench. He was a little nervous but he was excited. The best thing ever which I can’t even describe how happy it made me was seeing the big smile on his face as he got down into the font. it’s the best thing ever to see someone you have come to love so much take the first step to be able to return to our Father. It was even better on Sunday when he showed up with his new white shirt and seeing him have an even bigger smile on his face. You could see the light and difference in him. I can’t wait till he is a missionary someday! He’s so cute!
I remember one of my best memories is when I went with Alex to the home coming talk of elder Douglas. (The missionary that baptized him) after at the luncheon Alex told him that he was starting his mission papers. I remember how he paused and looked at Alex with the biggest smile on his face I can only imagine what he was feeling :) it was the coolest moment ever. Sharing the gospel is continuous. You share the gospel with one person you share the Gospel with a generation. There are so many amazing people here who have only been members for a few years and already they are effect the lives of so many people. it’s amazing just so amazing how it goes on and on :) now Alan will be able to go on a mission and touch so many lives and someday have a family of his own and raise them in the gospel. This is just the best feeling ever! I love being a missionary and being able to really truly help people find what will bring them true happiness! The Gospel! It’s True! It’s amazing! And it’s for everyone! Love you all tons! Hope you have a great week where ever you are!

Magicianaries

Hey everyone!
Well this week was a lot of fun! We have been teaching this 9 year old named Alan the past 2 weeks and he is going to be baptized on Thursday we are super excited and so is he. Last night he said the prayer and he asked that his baptism would come fast it was super cute. He’s a little nervous so we are going to take him to the church tonight to show him the font so he can see how everything is going to go. Yay! Also the Noche de Talentos was a success! We did a magic show the Elders had been planning this all week and it was super funny how excited they were they couldn’t focus on anything else. So here is the super complex trick that we performed to start Elder Murphy came out and put a book of Mormon in to a sombrero, then he turned it into a bunny! Elder Maynes was hiding under the cart and handed the bunny to him then when everyone was distracted by the bunny Elder Maynes crawled under the stage. Then I came out and made a cell phone appear in my water bottle (one of the members taught me how to do it was pretty cool) then for the grand finally the elders rolled out a chalk board with Sister Romano in a Hammock. They told everyone that they were going to make her disappear! They put the sheet over her and spun the board around. Then when they took off the sheet elder "Maynes" who was really Elder Cassity was duct taped to the other side with a Mexican flag over top of him and a sombrero. Meanwhile Sister Romano was getting off the other side of the board. They said they would make elder "Maynes" disappear now and they spun the board around again. When they took off the sheet there was nothing and we all asked where is elder Maynes? Then the real Elder Maynes burst out from under the stage with a guitar and that was our show. It actually turned out pretty good and it was super funny. Anyway that probably makes no since at all but it was pretty great haha. I love it here. The ward is great the area is ready to harvest and Sister Romano and I are ready to work. It’s going to be a great transfer! Love ya all until next week!

Week one in Phoniex!

Well hello from Phoenix my new Area!

Pretty much the best place to be! I love it already. It’s a lot different from Tempe and I miss it a lot, but there is a lot of Spanish work here, so I’m super excited. Like everyone we talk to speaks Spanish. I don’t think we are in the U.S. anymore haha. My new companion is Hermana Romano she is from Idaho and she is super cool! Really sweet and fun and fluent in espanol! We have a lot of really cool new investigators and people to work with in this area. So this week was Mexican Independence Day or something because we had a big fiesta on Saturday. It was super fun and some of our investigators were able to come. There was dancing and singing and all types of Mexican comida! Yum! So they had this game and it was pretty much the best thing ever! They had this tarp set up and someone had to stand in front of it and people would through big wet sponges at the person, like dodge ball except for everyone is throwing it at the same person. Well one of the elders thought he would jump in and then decided it was a bad idea because then everyone wanted to play and he got soaked. Turned into a little bit of a water fight after that haha. The members looooove the missionaries.

We also had a really cool experience with one of the less actives this week. We went over to visit her and we talked with her for a long time, she then starting to tell us all the things that had been going on and starting crying. It was hard and we were trying to think of what we could say to comfort her when her son came in who has Down syndrome. He was super excited he put a hymn book down in front of me and excitedly starting pointing to the song. He kept pointing to us and motioning that he wanted us to sing. So we sang. The sister stopped crying and the spirit was so strong. When we left her son gave us each a kiss on the cheek which kind of took us by surprise but he was so happy we sang his favorite song. The best thing about it was she came to church the next day :) it was such a sweet and tender experience to see how her son was able to comfort her in a way that we didn’t know how.

It’s different here, but I’m really looking forward to this transfer. There is a lot to do and learn and being a missionary is the best thing ever! I’m so lucky, sometimes I wonder if this is really real life or if I’m just dreaming. But it is real! The gospel is the BEST! The church is TRUE! And I love it with ALL my heart! Love you all talk to ya soon! :)

Exciting news!!!:)

Hellooooo!

So something really exciting happened this week. We had zone meeting on Tuesday and elder Karl and Peterson had some very exciting news for us. As they began to speak I got chills and then Elder Peterson told us that on June 23rd 2013 when the work of salvation broadcast came out the prophecy that is all over in the scriptures was fulfilled. "And now I say unto you that the time shall come that the salvation of the lord shall be declared to every nation, kindred, tongue and people." as missionaries we are now proselyting online through Facebook. Our mission is the Arizona Tempe mission, but our boundaries are the world!!!! The spirit was so strong in the room like you have no idea. The 12 apostles have said that this time in missionary work is comparable to miracles such as the first vision, the parting of the red sea, and the coming forth of the Book of Mormon. We just can’t believe that we are a part of this! What a wonderful time to be a missionary. Then the big surprise, we will be using our own Facebook accounts. We all thought we would be making new ones for missionary purposes. But no. we will be able to teach the gospel to our friends and family who we may not have known how to or were too scared to talk about the gospel with before our missions. There is an excitement and an energy here that not only the missionaries have, but the members too. There is nothing more satisfying then sharing the gospel and now it’s easier than ever! Great things are coming our way! So don’t be surprised when you see me live on Facebook again. We are in the process of "baptizing" our accounts right now. Hiding and deleting photos of us not in missionary attire and making our Facebook page worthy of our purpose as missionaries. Super excited!

Also we got transfer calls this morning and I will be leaving Tempe :( I’m super sad, because I love this area soooooo much and the Rio Salado ward definitely has a special place in my heart. I’m going to miss them a lot. I hope that I can serve in this area again on my mission, and if not I might need to move to Arizona so I can be a part of the ward again haha. I know that where ever I go though is where I need to be and I am excited to be in a new area. I find out were I’m going on Wednesday during transfer meeting, so I will let you all know where I’m at next week! But I love you all so much and just want to let you know how much I love this gospel, and how much of a blessing it has been in my life. i am SO grateful that I have the opportunity to be on a mission and help others find the joys of living the gospel. Have a wonderful week! Talk to ya all later!
